Let Food Be Thy Medicine
There is something amazing that is available to you each and every day. Something that has the power to support and heal your body. Do you know what it is?
It’s so simple … it’s food!
Now this might not come as a surprise to you. You’ve probably heard about the health benefits of certain foods. But perhaps you thought you had to go out and find special super or exotic foods.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Sure, there are certain foods that have amazing health benefits that have been classified as super-foods. But there is incredible healing power in many of the most basic, easily affordable and readily available foods too.
These foods are basically on your doorstep and the best news is that you don’t have to keep to some sort of restrictive daily diet, but that you can mix and match everything in an easy, fun way to create delicious meals.
Have you heard of the Greek physician Hippocrates who lived from 460 – 370 BC and has been referred to as the Father of Medicine?
This very smart man once said this;
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.
Hippocrates knew the secret all those years ago and yet in our times of plenty, we have forgotten this simple truth. Food is the fuel for your body and the fuel for your life!
I’d like to demonstrate this simple concept by sharing the story of a patient of mine.
When Stefanie reached out to me she was constantly tired and had pain in her entire body. The doctors had told her she had chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, tinnitus, migraine and vertigo. Needless to say, she was unable to work and her social life had ceased altogether. She was unhappy, ill and feeling desperately low.
Each person’s situation is unique but for Stefanie, I knew I needed to start by looking at what she was eating. It was vital that we supported her body to get rid of toxins that had built up over her lifetime and allow the process of regeneration to begin. We did this by cutting certain foods from her daily diet.
And then the fun really began.
She started every morning with a glass of lemon and celery juice. And then throughout the day, Stefanie ate many types of fruit and vegetables together with small amounts of white meat from time to time.
We worked together to clear a lot of old emotion, negative beliefs and patterns which she was holding in her body.
But everything started with her diet.
After only one week, Stefanie called me to tell me she was already feeling more energetic.
She continued to follow my food suggestions for the most part, and after six months she called with the great news that after decades of suffering, that morning she had been able to get out of bed completely pain free!
Isn’t that incredible?
After years of visiting doctors who couldn’t help and didn’t know where her conditions had come from, all her symptoms had disappeared.
And 2 years later she is still pain free and full of energy.
Because the food Stefanie is eating is not a classic ‘diet’ she is able to continue supporting her body in a way that is easy and delicious. She doesn’t feel deprived and her health shows through in her new life.
Stefanie’s story is a perfect example of how by eliminating harmful foods from your diet and replacing them with fresh, natural fruits, vegetables and herbs, your body has the power to regenerate itself in the most amazing way.
