Are_You-Struggling_With_Weight.jpeg

Does it feel like no matter what you do, you just can’t lose weight or if you do, it jumps right back on again the minute you stop the restrictive diet you’ve put yourself on?

You are not alone. Many people are in despair, desperation or have simply given up on their dream of being their ideal size.

But I want to let you into a secret.

A secret that might finally help you break free from the endless round of yoyo dieting, the endless feelings of failure and the nagging thought that it’s just never going to happen for you.

The food industry and worldwide health organisations use the media to bring us their version of how and what we should eat. But the problem is that this tells us that we are all the same. That one size, or one type of eating suits everyone.

It’s just not true. We are individuals and each of has a unique chemical makeup. No two people are exactly the same and although there are some fundamentals that apply to all of us, it’s the differences that often set us up for failure.

The biggest reason you are struggling to achieve your perfect size is that you’re eating the wrong foods, at the wrong time or too often.

Let’s break this down.

Eating The Wrong Foods

Different types of food suit different types of people. Some should eat a lot of protein while for others carbohydrates are the most beneficial food. If you don’t know which is best for you, then despite your best and most ardent efforts, you will not be able to shift the weight that’s literally weighing you down. Your body simply doesn’t know what to do with food that it doesn’t understand and so will store it and put it aside to deal with later.

Eating At The Wrong Time

Some of us are more suited to eating in the morning and others in the evening so it stands to reason that if you’re eating your biggest meal in the morning and your digestive system is more suited to eating in the evening, you will gain weight. One of the greatest keys to achieving and maintaining a healthy ideal weight is to work with your digestive system rather than against it.

Eating Too Often

One of the most important things to note is that despite mainstream information that tells us to eat three to five meals a day, for most of us, this is just too often. Your body needs time to rest, to process the food you give it and to have time to attend to other essential processes. If you’re feeding it all the time, it never gets the chance to detox.

Like most of us, my parents told me to have 3 meals a day and to eat everything on my plate. But when I was 20, I started to eat in a way that felt right to me. It didn’t make sense to eat at a specified time just because it was an accepted social tradition. I decided to eat only when I was hungry.

So for over 30 years, I’ve been eating only one meal a day and now finally science has caught up to tell us that intermittent fasting is extremely healthy. I am never hungry in the morning, or at lunchtime but for years people would tell me I need to eat breakfast. That it was the most important meal of the day. I’m sure you’ve heard this too.

But I know so many people, who simply can’t face food first thing in the morning. They don’t even begin to feel hungry until several hours after they wake up. The very idea of eating anything before at least 10am makes them feel queasy. But we’re told we ‘must’ eat to give our body the fuel it needs to take care of us. But surely, your body knows best?

I eat my biggest meal in the evening which goes against everything we’re told to do. I am never hungry in the morning or even at lunch time. But I eat well at night and enjoy my food without worrying about counting calories. This works best for me and has allowed me to maintain a healthy weight for many years.

At times, I go 78 hours without food as I simply don’t want to eat. Now this might seem inconceivable to you, and I’m not suggesting this is something you should do, but it works for me. I feel energized and strong during these periods of time and I just don’t think about food. I simply enjoy feeling good.

Do you feel hungry every time you eat or do you eat just because there’s food in front of you or to suit traditional meal time? Of course there are constraints when you’re taking care of a family but even so, there are ways to eat in a way that is more suitable for your body type.

When I was 16 years old I had inflammation in my mouth and gums caused by the herpes virus. I couldn’t eat solid food and even swallowing water was painful so the idea of soup or any other hot liquid was unthinkable. It burned like hell!

I had these symptoms for three weeks. Three weeks with no solid food and only a little water. But although day 3 and 4 were extremely difficult, after that I felt amazing. Full of energy, active and not hungry at all. I was sitting next to others who were eating and it didn’t bother me at all. Even though my body was trying to heal the virus, I felt really well.

After eating, we feel tired or sleepy and this is because our body slows everything down to concentrate on the digestive process. When we give our system the space to digest everything properly and efficiently before adding more food, we have the chance to experience full energy, vitality and health.

The great thing is that you don’t have to do this by guesswork anymore as with a quick, simple and completely painless test, I can determine not only the type of food that is best for you but also when is the best time to eat it.
